Thesis Plan

I just completed my thesis plan for this 36 week project. I wanted to make a simple diagram that could be shifted around. So if one week gets pushed back I can easily update content. It’s also a tool for others to track my progress.

Experimenting with a new direction

Jennifer’s comment on making something more personal stuck with me. So I went back to an earlier concept that focuses on Detroit. I am interested in the landscape and the perception most people have of Detroit. The amount of burnt down buildings, empty green space, and abandoned houses is astounding. Here are some experiments I did playing with a map of Detroit and visualizing the information in the landscape.

Remix

I’m planning on spending some more time on the Remix concept. I’m excited about the possibilities and range of experimentation that can happen. I also like the idea of talking to designers about this content. All of the work pulled for these two posters are images of art that have been stolen from various museums and galleries.

More experimenting

Here are some more rounds of experimentation with the Wash Your Hands idea. I’ll soon add hand lettered type to each poster.

Experimenting

I’m starting to experiment with different forms of content to work within the telephone process. There are a few directions I’m headed:

1. Remix/Using existing art and design to create a poster that explores voice and possibly the struggle to find voice.

2. Wash Your Hands is a direct communication poster that looks at the basics of graphic design. Is the message clear? Does it compel me to wash my hands? Are the levels of hierarchy functional?

I’ve explored many other avenues but these seem to have the most potential to elicit a conversation with the designer as well as grow through the process.

And here are some early experiments!
